It’s pretty simple, really. We work with amazing partners to source our garments, partners who share our values of not harming the planet, who pay their workers a fair price, who offer good working conditions and who know how to sew a bloody beautiful pair of knickers (and shirts and socks and everything else we’d be proud to slap the Trunks label on).
You, our wonderful customer, order said beautiful garments from us and we package them up for you in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Once you’ve received them and told all your friends and family about how soft and lovely and comfortable they are (wink wink!), we donate the profits (that is, the amount leftover once we’ve paid everyone in our supply chain) to incredible people who work tirelessly to save and improve the lives of elephants.
Now the question we know you’re dying to know is — do we keep any money for ourselves? Sadly for us, no. We don’t earn an income from Trunks … yet! Hopefully one day we can get this business to a place where it can be a full-time job. But for now, we’re paid in passion baby!
Here’s some of the amazing partners who help make Trunks possible:
Barumun Nagari Wildlife Sanctuary (BNWS) provides sanctuary for elephants and other endemic Sumatran wildlife. Established in 2015, they are a grassroots organisation dedicated to the conservation and preservation of Indonesia’s rich biodiversity and are home to fifteen critically endangered Sumatran elephants who co-exist within their 600 hectares of verdant and varied terrain in North Sumatra.
We love collaborating with fellow startups hell-bent on creating a better world. Wrinkle Apparel fits that brief. This Melbourne-based bizz launched in 2020 after buying one-too-many charity merchandise tees that were poorly made, mass produced and designed to raise money but not with the end customer in mind. Enter Wrinkle; design focused, quality, limited run fashion that makes people feel good and do good too. Their mutual love for the big grey guys sealed the deal in this incredible partnership.
Elephants don’t move very fast — and nor should fashion! That’s why we chose a manufacturer who specialise in “slow fashion”, which is the antithesis to the fast fashion crisis that is polluting our world and creating horrific working conditions for millions of people. Always Trendin’ pride themselves on working exclusively with ethical and environmentally friendly manufacturers and global logistic providers, so there’s no waste, overproduction or unethical labour conditions. We couldn’t think of a better partner to make our Trunks for Trunks!
